The Coil Journey

Every layer, unwrapped.

Stylist hands gently separating curl clusters to assess porosity and texture pattern
01 — Consultation

Reading the curl
before the cut.

Before scissors touch a strand, we part the hair wet and dry — watching how each section springs, assessing porosity by how fast water absorbs, mapping the spiral's own direction. Most salons skip this. We built our whole method around it.

Curl mapping: type 2C through 4C
Porosity test on 3 sections
Transition length assessment
02 — The Wash Ritual

What goes in shapes what springs out.

Amber glass bottle of flaxseed gel with dropper cap on cream background

Flaxseed Gel

100% organic linseed

Defines curl clusters without crunch — holds the spiral, not the strand.

Dark glass bottle of argan oil beside raw argan nuts on wooden surface

Argan Oil

Cold-pressed Moroccan

Seals the cuticle so light bounces off each ringlet like glass.

White porcelain bowl of milky rice water rinse with jasmine flowers

Rice Water Rinse

Fermented jasmine rice

Strengthens the strand from cortex to cuticle — less breakage on every coil.

03 — The Cut

Weight released,
spiral reclaimed.

We cut curl by curl, wet and stretched, then watch each section spring back to its natural coil. The moment weight lifts and the ringlet bounces upward — that's the cut working. No two clients leave looking the same because no two spirals are.

"Watch the ringlet spring — that's your hair telling you exactly where it wants to end."

In Their Words

The moment it clicks.

Amara Osei smiling with her defined 4A coils in Brooklyn
I cried in the chair. Not because anything hurt — because I'd never seen my hair do that before. Nadia cut maybe an inch and a half, and suddenly I had coils I didn't know I owned. Eight years of pressing it straight and my hair was just... waiting.
